Jhanvi Narang, the young producer from the Narang family that runs major theatrical chains such as AMB and Asian Cinemas, ventured out as a solo producer. And, her maiden production has turned out to be a big flop, drawing overwhelmingly negative reviews.
The film is titled “Premante,” starring Priyadarshi and Anandhi in the lead roles. Although Priyadarshi has delivered a few solo hits in the past, this film failed to post even a respectable opening on its first day.
In contrast, a small film titled “Raju Weds Rambabi,” featuring newcomers, opened strongly and dominated among last weekend’s releases.
This once again shows that despite having deep pockets, there is no guarantee of making appealing or even passable films.
Premante becomes another setback in Priyadarshi’s career. Anandhi, a talented performer, continues to sign these kinds of projects in Telugu without much selectivity.
