Kalki 2, the sequel to “Kalki 2898 AD”, officially went on floors today. The new installment began its formal shoot this morning at a specially erected set near Shankarapally, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the first part featured Prabhas in a dual role and boasted a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. Released in 2024, the film emerged as a massive box-office success. Nearly 20 months later, the second chapter has commenced production.
Sources indicate that Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan are participating in the ongoing first schedule. Bachchan reprises his role as Ashwatthama, while Haasan returns as Supreme Yaskin. Prabhas is expected to join the shoot in a later schedule.
The film is being produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, with music composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone, who played Sumati in the first part, is no longer associated with the sequel as the makers have parted ways with her. It remains to be seen who will replace her, though reports suggest that Sai Pallavi is being considered.
