Popular Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has surprised fans by unfollowing almost all leading Indian film celebrities on Instagram, including close friends and long-time collaborators such as Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Kareena Kapoor.
Over the past few days, Karan has quietly removed several Indian film personalities from his following list. Interestingly, Priyanka Chopra remains the only Indian movie celebrity he continues to follow.
Earlier, Karan also followed Telugu film personalities such as Vijay Deverakonda and S.S. Rajamouli, but they too no longer appear on his following list.
Responding to the speculation surrounding his move, Karan clarified that it was part of a digital detox. “It’s a DIGITAL DETOX!!!! Am unfollowing everyone to reduce my time and energy spent on the gram!!!” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.
However, the explanation has raised fresh questions among netizens. While Karan has unfollowed Indian film celebrities, he continues to follow several international personalities, with Priyanka Chopra remaining the lone Indian exception. This has naturally sparked curiosity about the reason behind the selective cleanup of his following list.
