Ram Gopal Varma directed “Lakshmi’s NTR” is finally hitting the screens. The biopic on NTR, which has been stuck due to cases, has received censor certificate from the board. Elated with joy, director Ram Gopal Varma tweeted that truth won finally. The film has obtained U Certificate.
“Truth won @ncbn Censor Board Cleared #LakshmisNTR with a UNIVERSALLY VIEWABLE U CERTIFICATE,” RGV tweeted.
“Lakshmi’s NTR” depicts the events in the later life of late NT Rama Rao, the legendary actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The film is based on the script provided by Lakshmi Parvathi, NT Rama Rao’s second wife.
Telugu Desam party raised objections over the depiction of TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu and had filed cases in court but Telangana High court dismissed the petition and gave its nod to the movie’s release. Even Andhra Pradesh’s election commission refused to stall the movie before its release saying that it would review the issue after the movie comes into the theaters.
The film is slated for March 29 release.
