‘M’ in Dhanush’s ‘D55’ is Mammootty, not Mrunal Thakur

Dhanush has officially kick-started work on his 55th film, tentatively considered as “D55”. The makers recently announced Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela as the female leads, unveiling their inclusion with a grand reveal that grabbed attention.

Soon after, the team teased another major announcement by dropping a clue with the letter ‘M’, instantly setting social media abuzz. With ongoing rumors surrounding Dhanush’s personal life and his alleged link-up with Mrunal Thakur, many assumed that the mystery reveal pointed towards the actress joining the cast.

However, the makers have now put an end to all speculation. The ‘M’ does not stand for Mrunal Thakur. Instead, it marks the entry of legendary Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who will be seen in a key role in the film. The announcement was made with a powerful statement from the team.

“When the Big M chooses a story, it becomes history. Super excited to welcome Megastar Mammootty onboard #D55!”

Mammootty, who was recently honored with the Padma Bhushan, adds massive weight to the project, making “D55” one of the most exciting pan-Indian collaborations in the making. The film is being directed by Rajkumar Periaswamy of “Amaran” fame, with Dhanush producing the project under his home banner, Wunderbar Films.
