Malavika Mohanan recently made her Telugu debut as one of the female leads in “The Raja Saab,” starring Prabhas. Calling it a dream launch, the actress had high hopes that debuting opposite a major pan-Indian star would open more doors in Telugu cinema.
While Malavika received considerable attention and actively participated in promotions, the film’s box office performance turned out to be disappointing, with “The Raja Saab” emerging as one of the early big flops of 2026. The producers are currently evaluating the extent of the losses.
Despite the setback, Malavika says she thoroughly enjoyed her Telugu film experience. In a recent Q&A video shared on Instagram, she revealed that the first Telugu word she learned was “Cheppu,” which means “tell” or “say.”
The actress also spoke about her food preferences, naming fish curry with rice as her favorite South Indian comfort food and rajma chawal as her go-to North Indian dish. Adding a personal touch, Malavika confessed that she is not a morning person and loves spending time in the mountains.
