Is Mani Ratnam retelling Godfather?

Mani Ratnam is big fan of Coppola’s ‘The God Father’. His iconic movie ‘Nayakudu’/’Nayakan’ was based on ‘The God Father’. He also co-wrote script for Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Gayam’ which was also based on the same movie.
 
Now buzz is that Mani Ratnam must have taken inspiration from the classic Hollywood movie to make his latest film ‘Nawab’ starring Prakash Raj, Aravind Swamy, Simbu and Vijay Sethupathi. The trailer that got released recently gave impression that Prakash Raj’s character is similar to God Father’s Marlon Brando. The characterizations of Aravind Swamy and Simbu’s roles have similarities in ‘The Godfather’.
 
Mani Ratnam’s ‘Nawab’ is all about a family that runs business which is actually corporate mafia. The film is set for September release.
