Maruthi needs to leave out 'disorder drama'

Director Maruthi began his career with youthful entertainers that won him instant success. To gain respect and to reach wider audience, Maruthi has started focusing on light-hearted entertainers with a unique point of protagonist having some personality disorder/disease that can everyone easily relate to.

His formulae did wonders at box-office when it was mixed perfectly in Nani starrer ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’. But he started following the same thread in every other movie with little variation. Slowly the novelty factor has started wearing off.

Now, it has become pretentious stuff and audiences are not wholly welcoming it. This is the reason why “Shailaja Reddy Alludu” got such mixed talk and why he received criticism from critics. He needs to come out from this formulae and write scripts afresh. Or he would become another Teja. Two decades ago, Teja set new trend with youthful movies and delivered blockbuster after blockbuster and changed the way movies are made in Tollywood. But the novelty factor of his movies soon did wane and he didn’t gain a single hit for more than a decade until the release of ‘Nenu Raju Nenu Mantri’ last year.

It is time Maruthi to take rest for few months and start thinking afresh.
