Actor Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films Private Limited on Monday (March 10, 2025) decided to pursue its main civil suit seeking damages of Rs 1 crore, as well as a permanent injunction. Given that the documentary was already streaming, he declined to withdraw the case.
Instead of an interim injunction restraining the use of behind-the-scenes (BTS) visuals of Tamil movie “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” in Netflix docu-drama “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale,” Dhanush wants a permanent injunction.
The dispute arose when Nayanthara incorporated behind-the-scenes footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a film produced by Dhanush, in her documentary without obtaining prior permission. Additionally, Dhanush has accused both Nayanthara and her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, of displaying unprofessional conduct during the film’s production.
“Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale” is a documentary that chronicled Nayanthara’s life and her romance with Vignesh and subsequent wedding. She utilized the behind-the-scenes clips from Dhanush’s “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.” Both Nayanthara and Vignesh fell in love during the making of this film.
Dhanush accused both of them of causing many losses for his production company as the budget escalated.
