Since its announcement, the film has received a lot of interest. It’s no surprise that Netflix, the global streaming provider, reached an agreement with the producers. According to our sources, Netflix paid a hefty Rs 40 crore for the post-theatrical streaming rights.
This is a record for Naga Chaitanya. No other film in Naga Chaitanya’s career has generated such massive OTT rights.
“Thandel” is being directed by Chandoo Mondeti and produced by GA2 Pictures, with a December 2024 release date.
Big budget
“Thandel” is Naga Chaitanya’s most expensive film to date. The film is partially set in Pakistan. The plot revolves around a group of fishermen from Andhra Pradesh who accidentally enter Pakistani waters and are imprisoned for crossing maritime borders.
