Now, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has revealed the inspiration behind Pooja’s look and the song’s name. He shared that her red gown avatar in the song was inspired by none other than Italian actress Monica Bellucci, a global sex symbol and heartthrob of an entire generation.

Lokesh Kanagaraj explained that both he and music composer Anirudh Ravichander have been long-time admirers of Bellucci. As a tribute, they named the song “Monica” and designed Pooja Hegde’s look to reflect the timeless glamour associated with the Italian icon.

The tribute has clearly struck a chord with audiences, with Monica becoming one of the most talked-about promotional elements of “Coolie.”
