Pooja Hegde has lately been talking about many aspects of the Indian film industry, including the South Indian film industry. She earlier revealed how actresses are treated on the movie sets, preferring royal treatment to male actors, and also mentioned the giant disparity between male superstars and female stars.
Now, she further revealed that actresses are easily put in boxes by producers and directors. “Filmmakers maintain preconceived opinions about actors. So, actresses tend to get typecast easily,” Pooja Hegde said during the interview.
She further added, “The industry often boxes heroines into specific roles—glamorous, romantic, or emotional anchor to the hero—leaving little room for diversity.”
Her statements have sparked a flurry of reactions from fans and industry insiders alike.
Pooja Hegde will next be seen in the Tamil film Retro, which is set for release on May 1. In “Retro,” she plays alongside Suriya.
