Tamannaah Bhatia has often acknowledged that Telugu and Tamil cinema played a crucial role in shaping her successful career. Although she made her acting debut in Hindi cinema at the age of 15, it was her Telugu film “Sri” (2005) that opened the doors to stardom and established her as one of South India’s leading actresses.
However, in a recent interview, Tamannaah’s comments about the South Indian film industry have sparked discussion. She suggested that glamour has traditionally played a significant role in the success of actresses in South cinema and spoke about the industry’s emphasis on presenting heroines in a certain way.
What has drawn attention is that, while criticizing the industry’s focus on glamour, Tamannaah also defended her choices in Bollywood and OTT projects, including performances that relied heavily on glamour and sensuality.
In recent years, several of her most talked-about appearances have come from projects such as “Lust Stories 2,” where she moved away from her earlier no-kissing policy, and dance numbers like “Aaj Ki Raat” from “Stree 2,” which significantly boosted her visibility among Hindi audiences.
Critics argue that there is a contradiction in condemning the glamour-centric approach often associated with South films while embracing similar image-building opportunities in Bollywood.
