Rajamouli has more affinity for Ravan than Ram

SS Rajamouli

Late NT Ramarao popularized the trend of making negative mythological characters the protagonists of movies. He played the roles of Ravana in films like “Bhookailas” and Duryodhana in “Dana Veera Soora Karna,” which are traditionally considered villains, and he made them equally popular.

It is understandable why our “modern master,” SS Rajamouli, prefers Ravan over Lord Ram. In the latest Netflix documentary, Rajamouli said Lord Ram isn’t as appealing to him as Ravana is.

“Ram is a great protagonist, but I prefer my antagonists to be formidable fighters and difficult to defeat,” he added.

Mahesh Babu will star in Rajamouli’s next film, which is reportedly based on the two novels of South African writer Wilbur Addison Smith. Rajamouli termed it a globetrotting adventure thriller. A popular South Indian star will play the villain in this film.
