If reports are to be believed superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ will hit the screens on 9th January 2020 as against the earlier announced date of 10th January. The release has been advanced by a day. Lyca Productions has posted this message on its website – “The film is scheduled for release on 9 January 2020.”
The change in date is to avoid direct competition with other biggies in South India. It will now have two days window of no competition during Sankranthi as Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ is likely to hit the screens on Jan 11.
‘Darbar’ is directed by AR Murugadoss. It is set for Tamil, Telugu and Hindi release simultaneously. Starring Nayanthara as the female lead, ‘Dabar’ will present Rajinikanth in a cop avatar. It is said the film is set in the backdrop of Mumbai.
Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah of Lyca Productions, Anirudh Ravichander is providing the music. Santhosh Sivan is the DOP while Sreekar Prasad is the editor.
