This Friday, there are not many notable films in the theaters. Among the Telugu releases, Vishal starrer ‘Saamanyudu’ was the one that had a popular face. On the OTT space, Taaspee Pannu starrer Hindi’s film, ‘Looop Lapeta’ premiered on Netflix directly on Friday.
Our critic could not watch ‘Saamanyudu’, so we are not posting the review. However, the film received thumbs down from other critics. It is the Telugu dubbed version of Vishal’s “Veeramae Vaagai Soodum” which was also released today.
The majority of the critics gave the film thumbs down terming it as a template vigilante drama with poor execution. The Hindu in its review wrote, “Did director Thu Pa Saravanan finish the final draft, tear it in frustration, and decide to go ahead with the film by pasting together the random bits of paper?”
Taapsee’s “Looop Lapeta is the official remake of the German movie “Run Lola Run”. But the remake received mixed reviews.
“Looop Lapeta is an inspired but insipid remake of the cult film ‘Run Lola Run’,” wrote Sanjukta Sharma of MoneyControl.com.
Giving a mere 2/5 rating, Bollywood Hungama wrote, “LOOOP LAPETA works due to the experimental plot, stylized narrative and Taapsee Pannu’s performance. However, thanks to the loopholes in the script and the weak sidetracks, the film at best turns out to be an average fare.”
