Director Ram Gopal Varma has been voicing strong criticism of animal activists who insist that stray dogs should be allowed to roam freely on the streets. Over the past week, he has shared several posts slamming their stance, stressing that human lives must take priority.
He also clarified that he is a dog lover himself and even shared pictures of his pet dogs.
On Friday, RGV turned his attention to the Supreme Court’s revised guidelines on stray dogs in Delhi and the NCR. The order states that strays must be sterilised, vaccinated, and released back into their original localities, except in cases where the animals are rabid or display aggressive behaviour.
Questioning the practicality of the directive, Ram Gopal Varma sarcastically asked whether dogs would check their vaccination certificates before deciding to bite someone. He further highlighted the irony of relying on medical records when the real concern is the safety of children and pedestrians vulnerable to stray dog attacks.
