Samantha: I’ve always followed my heart

Actor-turned-producer Samantha opens up about her debut production, Subham, set for release on 9th May, and more in this interview.

On becoming a producer

Samantha launched her own production banner, Tralala Moving Pictures. “Subham” is her first film.

“Most women today are hooked on TV serials, and while Subham includes horror and comedy elements, at its core, it’s a social satire,” she said. “I’ve always followed my heart. I may not be a smart businesswoman, but I made this movie because I believed in it. I am confident that the film will live up to expectations.”

On her cameo appearance

“I wasn’t supposed to play the cameo in Subham, but I would rather not ask anyone for a favor for my first production. So, I decided to do it myself,” she reasoned.

Despite acknowledging her lack of experience in the film business, she was clear that money should be spent on what is required for the script.

Her next plans

“I’m currently working on a film titled Maa Inti Bangaram. We resume shooting in June. I am acting in and producing it,” she revealed. When asked whether she is part of director Atlee’s next, she added, “Maybe we’ll collaborate on a project in the future.”

On her temple

“I was shocked to learn that a fan built a temple for me. I couldn’t believe someone felt that much love for me. While I’m touched, I can’t encourage such things,” Samantha stated.
