Sapthami Gowda’s Telugu debut ends in disappointment

Sapthami Gowda had high hopes for a promising career in Telugu cinema. Many Kannada actresses have found great success in Tollywood and risen to national fame—Rashmika Mandanna being a prime example.

Following the pan-Indian success of her Kannada film “Kantara,” Sapthami quickly signed her first Telugu project opposite Nithiin. Titled “Thammudu,” the film marked her official entry into Tollywood. She spent over a year working on the project, but unfortunately, it ended in disappointment.

“Thammudu” not only bombed at the box office, but Sapthami’s role was met with criticism and trolling. Viewers called her character silly and inconsequential. The performance left such a weak impression that filmmakers may now hesitate to consider her for future Telugu projects.

With her debut turning into a setback, Sapthami Gowda may need to shift her focus back to Kannada cinema, where she continues to have a stronger footing.
