Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha’s much-publicized Telugu debut has ended in disappointment. The actress made her Tollywood entry with “Jatadhara,” which released last week to poor reviews and even poorer box office performance.
Sonakshi, who made a sensational debut in 2010 with Salman Khan’s Dabangg, was once regarded as one of Bollywood’s biggest heroines. However, after a series of flops and inconsistent career choices, her presence in films gradually declined. Even her ventures in Tamil cinema, including “Lingaa” opposite superstar Rajinikanth, failed to give her a strong foothold in the South.
After nearly fifteen years in the industry, Sonakshi hoped that “Jatadhara” would mark a fresh beginning in Tollywood. But the film’s poor content and confusing narrative have drawn harsh criticism. Sonakshi’s role, too, has not received favorable attention.
For now, “Jatadhara” stands as a major embarrassment for Sonakshi Sinha’s Telugu debut, and a reminder that star power alone cannot save a weak script.
