A Tamil director’s comment on Tamannah has snowballed into a big controversy. Suraj, who recently directed ‘Okkadochchadu’ with Vishal and Tamannah as the lead pair, said heroines are there for glamour. “If a heroine refuses to skimpy clothes, I tell her audiences are paying for this. Heroines should display glamour show,” he was reported saying to the media.
First Nayanathara blasted him by saying heroines are not strippers. He then apologised to her. Yesterday, Tamannah responded too and said she was deeply hurt and sought apology from him. And the director duly sent apologies.
Interestingly, Tamannah did lot of skin show in ‘Okkadochadu’. She is generally seen as ‘glamorous’ heroine in the movie industry but the heroines say “we are here to act and entertain audiences and should not at any point be objectified as commodities.” She rightly said so.
