The Telugu film box office has been underwhelming recently. After the Sankranthi season, none of the films that were released in theaters made big money. Even films starring Ravi Teja (“Eagle”) and Varun Tej (“Operation Valentine”) didn’t achieve success. So, the entire Telugu film trade circle is hoping that this weekend’s films will bring some joy and respite.
“Bhimaa” starring Gopichand and “Gaami” starring Vishak Sen will be released tomorrow (March 8). While “Bhimaa” is a straight-up action film with a fantasy twist, “Gaami” is a one-of-a-kind drama with breathtaking visuals.
Although Gopichand has not had much success in recent years, “Bhimaa” has given fans hope because of its similarities to blockbusters such as “Akhanda”. The trade believes that the devotional and fantasy elements will appeal to the target audience.
On the other hand, “Gaami” has created a lot of buzz with its trailer and praise from top director SS Rajamouli. It is geared toward the multiplex crowd.
A dubbed movie “Premalu” is also in the fray.
