“VD12,” Vijay Deverakonda’s 12th film, will begin regular filming in June. Yesterday, on the occasion of Vijay Deverakonda’s birthday, the makers gifted fans with a brand new poster.
The poster featured a shredded paper image of Vijay Deverakonda. While many praised the creative poster, others noted similarities between the posters for the Oscar-winning thriller Argo (2012) and #VD12. Some media outlets and journalists called out the filmmakers for shamelessly plagiarizing Hollywood films.
However, producer Naga Vamsi stated that they did not copy ‘Argo’. He also listed several spy thrillers with similar-looking posters. He claimed that ‘shredded paper or stripes’ are commonly used in spy movies. ‘VD12’ is also a spy thriller set in the past.
“Before jumping on to the bandwagon of tags, it’s better to understand the context. Shredding or stripping identities concept is as old as the secret agencies. Kindly, refrain from temptations of passing judgement without proper basis,” he wrote on Twitter.
The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri of ‘Jersey’ fame. Sreeleela is the protagonist.
