Sankranthiki Vasthunam emerged as one of the biggest Telugu hits in recent times. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the fun-filled entertainer featured Venkatesh as an ex-cop, alongside Aishwarya Rajesh as his wife and Meenakshi Chaudhary as his former girlfriend.
The film is now being remade in Hindi, with Anees Bazmee directing the adaptation. Producer Dil Raju, who backed the Telugu original, is also producing the Hindi version.
Akshay Kumar has stepped into Venkatesh’s role, while Vidya Balan will reprise the role originally played by Aishwarya Rajesh. Raashii Khanna has been cast in the role essayed by Meenakshi Chaudhary in the Telugu version.
Industry circles feel Vidya Balan is a fitting choice for the role, given her strong screen presence and flair for comedy blended with emotion.
The Hindi remake is currently under production and is scheduled for release on December 4, 2026.
