Vijay Deverakonda: I’ve finally learned to say no

Vijay Deverakonda recently opened up about the struggles of navigating the film industry without a filmy background or a godfather.

Speaking candidly, he compared the challenges faced by outsiders like him to the privileges enjoyed by star kids.

“Early in my career, even when I didn’t believe in a script or director, I couldn’t say no. As an outsider, rejecting a project could get you labeled as difficult,” he said. “But a star kid can say no without consequences—because their father or godfather will step in, fix things, and even help reshape the script. They have access to resources and influence we don’t.”

However, Vijay added that he has now reached a point in his career where he feels empowered to reject scripts that don’t resonate with him.

He is currently promoting his upcoming film “Kingdom,” which is slated for release on July 31.
