Though ‘Maharshi’ has raked in terrific collections in the first weekend (the film is said to have collected about Rs 49 Cr in its first weekend in Telugu states and created non-Baahubali record), it is a fact that director Vamshi Paidipally has made quite an average film. The 25th movie of Mahesh Babu should have been very special, a film that he should be cherished for longtime, feel proud of for many years. Instead, Vamshi has directed a movie that would be remembered for its opening weekend collections than its content, as he narrated it in predictable manner and copied elements from other movies.
When people expected he would make another heart-warming, lovely film like his previous movie ‘Oopiri’, Vamshi has presented an average movie for a landmark number. Then why is Mahesh Babu backing Vamshi Paidipally so much and even went on planting a peck on the director’s cheek in a thanksgiving gesture? It is because the film has taken massive openings in Mahesh Babu’s career. In the very first week, the film is likely to cross the lifetime collections of some of his biggest hits.
The commercial success is what making Mahesh Babu beaming with happiness. He is praising Vamshi for this reason. They also seem to have hit off well during the shoot and their families have also bonded.
It is too early to predict the film’s overall box-office range but ‘Maharshi’ is on its way to become one of the highest grossers.
