LGM Review: Concept is okay but narration isn’t

MS Dhoni, India’s legendary cricketer, and his wife have ventured into film business. Their first film as producers is “LGM – Let’s Get Married,” starring Harish Kalyan (from Nani’s “Jersey”), Ivana (from “Love Today”), and Nadiya.

It’s a rom-com that tries to be a family entertainer. On paper, the film’s plot appears to be interesting. However, the narration is not.

“LGM” is about a girl who tries to get close to her future mother-in-law and spends a few days with her to see if they get along. The girl is only interested in marrying her boyfriend if she gets along with his mother. What does her future mother-in-law think about this? In these circumstances, how does the boyfriend deal with his girlfriend and his mother?

Harish Kalyan plays the role of the boyfriend in a straightforward manner. He plays passively, with no energy whatsoever. Ivana is the girlfriend. Her energetic performance in “Love Today” made everyone sit up and take notice of her. Here she shines only in the later part of the movie. Nadiya, the hero’s mother and the heroine’s future mother-in-law, tries to inject some life into the proceedings.

Ramesh Tamilamani, who wrote the story, screenplay, dialogues (in Tamil), and music, appears to be a jack of all trades but good at none. His screenplay writing and direction are both ineffective.

Nadiya and Ivana’s post-interval moments are among the highlights.

Bottom line: “LGM – Let’s Get Married” sounds exciting on paper, but it falls flat on screen. Nadiya is the best part of the film.
