Mrunal Thakur is gearing up for a major box office test with the release of “Son of Sardaar 2,” where she stars alongside veteran Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn. The film is a sequel to the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar, which itself was a remake of the Telugu film Maryada Ramanna. However, this sequel is an original story and not a remake.
While the first part saw moderate success, “Son of Sardaar 2” faces an uphill battle. The genre feels dated, and it faces tough competition from other releases, particularly the youth-centric drama “Saiyaara,” which is generating solid buzz.
Mrunal, who recently rose to stardom with Telugu hits like “Sita Ramam” and “Hi Nanna,” has yet to deliver a major success in Bollywood. With three more Hindi films lined up, she’s hoping “Son of Sardaar 2” will mark a turning point in her Hindi film career.
In the film, she plays the role of Rabia and has been actively promoting it across platforms. All eyes are now on the weekend’s box office performance. Will this be the breakthrough Bollywood hit she’s been waiting for?
