People have always regarded director Sukumar as a filmmaker with highly creative ideas. Though he delivered massive blockbuster with his debut film “Arya” in 2024, he subsequently became known more as a ‘different director’ than a director of ‘blockbuster movies’.
After making films with Naga Chaitanya (100% Love), Mahesh Babu (1 Nenokkadine), and NTR (Nannaku Prematho), he changed the gears and attempted commercial potboilers. Thus, his first film with Ram Charn, “Rangasthalam,” became a huge blockbuster. The film not only became a moneyspinner; it also brought him accolades.
Gaining confidence with his commercial filmmaking style, he upped the game for “Pushpa: The Rise”. The first part of “Pushpa” became a bonafide hit in the Hindi market. With the second part of “Pushpa,” aka “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” he has fundamentally transformed our perception of action performers. He is now one of the biggest filmmakers in India.
“Pushpa 2: The Rule” has created new records by generating approximately Rs 1,850 Cr worldwide.
Now, the entire nation will closely observe his forthcoming filmography. Here’s wishing Sukumar a very happy birthday. He will next be directing Ram Charan in his new film. The ‘Puspa 3’ will happen after a couple of years.
