Niharika Konidela-produced “Committee Kurrollu” has won the Best Telugu Feature Film award at the 72nd National Film Awards, announced today.
The film picked up two honours, winning Best Telugu Feature Film and Best Make-up for P. Ravi Kumar.
Choosing to back a rooted, content-driven story instead of a conventional commercial entertainer, Niharika Konidela placed her faith in debut director Yadhu Vamsee and an ensemble cast of 16 newcomers. That decision has now been rewarded with one of Indian cinema’s highest honours.
Written and directed by Yadhu Vamsee, Committee Kurrollu is set in a village in Andhra Pradesh. The story revolves around a close-knit group of friends whose minor disagreement gradually spirals into a larger conflict, bringing issues of caste, class, identity, and collective responsibility to the forefront.
Released on August 9, 2024, Committee Kurrollu received widespread critical acclaim and also emerged as a commercial success, making its National Award victory a fitting recognition of its impact.
