Former actress Sameera Reddy has opened up about the body image pressures she faced during her acting career, revealing that filmmakers frequently insisted she wear padded bras and other body-enhancing garments to fit industry beauty standards.
In a recent interview, Sameera said she was asked to wear padded bras throughout nearly two decades of her career. She recalled that such requests were routine and that filmmakers often commented on an actress’s appearance, expecting them to enhance certain features on screen.
The actress, who appeared in Telugu films such as Ashok, Narasimhudu, and Jai Chiranjeeva, besides starring in several Hindi films and the Tamil hit Vaaranam Aayiram, said the pressure wasn’t limited to padded bras alone.
According to Sameera, she was also asked to wear padding below the waist because some members of the film crew felt her figure looked “too flat.”
Sameera stepped away from films several years ago and has since focused on her personal life.
