The trailer of “Idly Kottu” is out. Marking his fourth directorial, Dhanush not only plays the lead role but also pens and helms the story that revolves around a modest idly stall in his village, once run by his father.
The trailer opens with Dhanush running a hotel in a big city and bringing huge profits to the management. While his father laments that his son couldn’t carry forward their legacy, circumstances eventually draw Dhanush back to his village. When the family stall comes under threat, Dhanush goes all out.
On the surface, the film appears to explore themes of rediscovering one’s roots and safeguarding family tradition. However, the trailer itself comes across as rather plain and underwhelming.
Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, and Shalini Pandey play pivotal roles. The Telugu version is being presented by Rama Rao Chintapalli under the SVM Production banner and is set for release on October 1.
