Director Teja, of ‘Chitram’ and ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’, is all set to join the OTT bandwagon. Buoyed by the sudden spike in subscribers due to lockdown, Amazon Prime is venturing into producing more original content targeting Telugu audiences. Teja reportedly approached Amazon Prime with a proposal and the deal has not yet reached the advanced stage.
Teja is in talks with this OTT company to ink a deal for two movies and three web series. If it gets done, it marks the debut of Teja in digital space. The filmmaker is known for making love stories. He regained his position with the success of Rana and Kajal starrer ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’ but his subsequent movie ‘Sita’ featuring Bellamkonda Srinivas and Kajal tanked at the box-office.
Teja also announced two new movies – Rakshasa Raju Ravanasurudu’ and ‘Alimelu Manga Venkata Ramana’, one each with Rana Daggubati and Gopichand respectively.
He is now planning to produce and direct web dramas as well. Amazon Prime is ready to invest huge money in Telugu content and there is no budget limit if the stories are strong enough. Huge sets and foreign locations are also allowed. But we have to see when this deal will close and at what budget.
Director Teja has proposed to direct and produce three web series and two films for Amazon Prime Video and the deal is at the advanced stage.
