Golden Jubilee year of Gudachari 116

Superstar Krishna is regarded as harbinger in Tollywood as he helped the Telugu film industry get updated with the latest technologies over the years. He brought many firsts like 70MM, Cinemascope, Color Film, etc. He also was the first actor who did a James Bond genre (spy thriller) movie in Telugu. ‘Guadachari 116’ was the that movie. Produced by Doondi, ‘Gudachari 116′ was released on 11 August 1966.

Directed by M. Mallikharjuna Rao, the film starred Sobhan Babu, Krishna, Rajanala, Mukkamala, and Jayalalitha in pivotal roles. The current Chief Minsiter of Tamilnadu Jayalalitha played a glamorous role in the movie and the song shot on her ‘Nuvvu Naa Mundu Unte’ is an evergreen hit.

While Sobhan Babu played the role of Agent 303, Krishna portrayed the Agent 116. The film was remade in bollywood as ‘Farz’. It had great musical numbers composed by T Chalapathi Rao.
