“Hi Nanna,” starring Nani and Mrunal Thakur, was released in theaters in December 2023. The film was a decent hit. Nearly 14 months after its release, a Kannada producer appears to have seen the film, and accused the filmmakers of plagiarism.
Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah, the Kannada producer, has stated on social media that the creators of “Hi Nanna” blatantly plagiarized the plot of his Kannada film, “Bheema Sena Nala Maharaja,” which was released during the COVID-19 era.
He stated that neither Nani, the principal actor in “Hi Nanna,” nor the director or producer attempted to obtain the remake rights to his film, and instead copied it.
While Mallikarjunaiah’s accusations went popular on social media, the ‘Hi Nanna’ team has yet to respond to them.
