Bhavatharini, a national award-winning playback singer and the daughter of legendary music director Ilaiyaraaja, has passed away. She breathed her last on Thursday while being treated for cancer. She was 47.
Bhavatharini died from liver cancer. She was being treated in Sri Lanka.
Bhavatharini, known for her soulful renditions, received the National Award for the song “Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu” from the Tamil film “Bharathi” in 2001.
She was also a music director, and composed songs for the Telugu film “Avunaa”. She also sang Telugu songs in films like “Gundello Godari”.
