Thalapathy Vijay’s “Jana Nayagan” (Jana Nayakudu in Telugu) has been postponed, with production house KVN Productions officially announcing the delay citing circumstances beyond the producers’ control. It is widely known that the film has been facing issues related to censor certification.
The makers have approached the Madras High Court, which is scheduled to hear the matter on January 9. As a result, the film has been pulled from its planned January 9 release slot.
“Jana Nayagan” holds special significance as it is Vijay’s swan song before his full-fledged entry into politics with TVK. Directed by H. Vinoth, the political action thriller stars Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol in key roles.
Despite the postponement coming at the last minute, the film had already created history by clocking around $3.6 million in overseas advances and registering sold-out shows across India. A new release date is expected to be announced once the legal hurdles are cleared.
