K. Murari, producer of many musical hits, passes away

Veteran producer Katragadda Murari, better known as K. Murari, is no more. He passed away on Saturday at his residence in Chennai. He was 78. 

He was known as a producer with good taste in stories and music. All the films he produced under his Yuva Chitra Arts banner were musical hits.

He made films with great directors like K Vishwanath, Dasari Narayana Rao, K Raghavendra Rao, and Jandhyala. Though he produced less than dozen films, many of them are regarded today as classics.  He also played an instrumental role in bringing out a book about Telugu producers titled, “Telugu Chalanachitra Nirmatala Charitra”.

‘Seetamalakshmi’, ‘Gorintaku’, ‘Trishulam’, ‘Seetarama Kalyanam’, ‘Janaki Ramudu’, ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’, ‘Jegantalu’ ‘Nari Nari Naduma Murari’, ‘Abhimanyudu’ are the films that he produced on his banner.

Interestingly, all his films were composed by KV Mahadevan only.
