If you are a Rajinikanth fan living in Karnataka, you have a big bad news. ‘Kaala’ won’t be releasing in any language in the state. Rajinikanth’s Cauvery comments have offended the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, which has today decided to cancel the film’s release on June 7. “Protecting the interests of our state is paramount for us,” KFCC has said in a statement.
All the exhibitors have been asked to comply with the decision. The distributor himself has officially said that he has voluntarily backed out. As per some early estimates, the decision will affect the film’s overall gross in a substantial manner.
Will the makers of ‘Kaala’ approach the Competition Commission of India challenging the decision? It has to be seen, but KFCC has said that there is no pressure behind the ban.
