Buchi Babu Sana’s film “Uppena” won the National Award for Best Telugu Film and was a huge success. However, critics described it as a ‘freemake’ of many films, including “Sairat” (which was later remade in Hindi as “Dhadak,” in which Janhvi Kapoor made her debut).
On the other hand, Boney Kapoor, the producer and father of Janhvi Kapoor, recently stated that he loved Buchi Babu’s Uppena and had long wanted to remake it in Hindi.
“Even today, I believe it should be remade in Bollywood, and my wish is for my daughter Kushi Kapoor to star in it,” he said. He expressed hope that it will become a reality someday.
Kushi Kapoor recently made her acting debut in Netflix’s “The Archies” and has signed on for two Hindi films. Let’s see if she stars in the remake of “Uppena”.
