“Manjummel Boys,” one of the most acclaimed Malayalam films in recent years, brought widespread recognition to its director Chidambaram. The film earned critical praise and emerged as a major box-office success.
Now, the director is facing legal trouble.
The Kochi City Police have registered a case against Chidambaram following a complaint by a female actor, who has alleged sexual harassment. According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place in 2022 at an apartment in Kochi. Police officials confirmed that the case was formally registered on March 2, 2026.
Chidambaram has been booked under Section 74 (intent to outrage the modesty of a woman) and Section 75 (sexual harassment offences) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The development comes at a time when the director is reportedly working on his next film and preparing to unveil its promotional material.
