As Brahmins have been protesting about the use of sacred phrases ‘Namakam Chamakam’ in the hit romantic song ‘Asmika’ in Allu Arjun’s ‘Duvvada Jagannadham’, the makers have now replaced them with non-controversial words. In the new song, which was recorded recently, ‘Naa Gamakam Nee Sumukham’ has come in the place of ‘Namakam Chamakam’.
This changed song will be heard in the movie that was cleared by Censor Board. As some Brahmins are still under the impression that the original song is being used in the movie, the makers have issued a statement now.
The objectionable phrases will be there in the film, they assert. Brahmins have been objecting to ‘Namakam Chamakam’ as they are considered sacred hymns used in the chanting of mantras for Lord Shiva. ‘Duvvada Jagannadham’ features Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde and the film is directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Dil Raju. It is slated for 23rd June release.
