When he said before the film’s release that ‘Sammohanam’ is his best film in his second innings, not many took him seriously. But Naresh has indeed proved that he didn’t lie.
After its release, he is getting unanimous accolades. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that his comic timing is winning greater praise than Sudheer Babu’s acting!
Naresh’s second innings has been on an upswing for 3 years now. He has played full-fledged roles effectively in Trivikram Srinivas’s ‘A Aa’, Rangasthalam’, ‘Brahmotsavam’, ‘Sathamanam Bhavati’, ‘MCA’, and ‘Toli Prema’ in recent times.
Unlike Rao Ramesh, Naresh’s forte is (almost) exclusively comedy. But as ‘Rangasthalam’ shows, he can be competent even in serious roles. After ‘Sammohanam’, special roles may be crafted by writers/directors keeping him in mind.
