Prakash Raj as Vijaya's Chakrapani

Prakash Raj will reprise the role of Aluri Chakrapani, the famous writer and producer of Vijaya Vauhini Studios, in ‘Mahanati’ that is being made by Naga Ashwin. ‘Mahanati’ is biopic on legendary actress Savitri. Keerthy Suresh is essaying the title character, while Dulquer Salmaan is playing Savitri’s husband and famous actor Gemini Ganeshan.

Aluri Chakrapani was partner of B Nagireddy in Vijaya banner that produced great classics like ‘Maya Bazar’, ‘Missamma’, ‘Gundamma Katha’ in which Savitri also played female lead. Chakrapani is regarded as the person who shaped up Savitri’s career. Hence Prakash Raj is roped in to play this all-important role of Chakrapani in ‘Mahanati’.

‘Mahanati’ also has Samantha in a key role and it is being made simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil languages. Ashwini Dutt is producing it.
