SS Rajamouli has purchased the first ticket of “Sing Geetham”, a musical fantasy directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. During a special interaction with producer Nag Ashwin and music director Devi Sri Prasad, Rajamouli spoke about his admiration for Singeetham and the unique concept behind the film.
Rajamouli revealed that he first heard the core idea of the film nearly three decades ago through his brother MM Keeravani. The concept stayed with him ever since.
“I first heard the story around 1995-96. It was astonishingly original and completely out of the box. Such an eccentric and daring idea needed someone equally imaginative to bring it to life. Nag Ashwin was the right person for the job as the producer,” Rajamouli said.
Nag Ashwin explained that the project initially began as a tribute to Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, one of Indian cinema’s most inventive storytellers. However, as the film evolved, it became much more than a tribute.
According to him, audiences gradually get immersed in the film’s world and stop focusing on its musical format. “Once the story draws you in, you don’t question why the characters are singing. You simply follow their emotional journey,” he said.
Music director Devi Sri Prasad described “Sing Geetham” as one of the most unconventional projects of his career.
