S. S. Rajamouli is taking global storytelling to the next level with his upcoming film “Varanasi.” His virtual appearance at CCXP Mexico 2026 has further boosted excitement around the project.
The film’s panel was hosted by his son S. S. Karthikeya, who engaged the audience with exclusive insights. Though Rajamouli could not attend in person, he joined via a video message and shared details about the film’s creative inspiration.
Varanasi stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is being positioned as a global cinematic spectacle.
During his message, Rajamouli revealed that he draws inspiration from the ancient Maya civilization and its iconic architecture, especially Chichen Itza.
“Maya civilization and its architecture always intrigued me,” Rajamouli said. “In my previous film Baahubali, the city center and the throne were inspired by the famous Chichen Itza pyramid.”
The panel also featured exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses that were shown only to attendees. Latin American fans, who loved RRR, responded with loud cheers. Their reaction highlights the growing international anticipation for Rajamouli’s next big project.
