The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organizes the Oscars, has sent invitations to the global cinema community to join the academy in 2024. The organization reported today that 487 invitations had been sent out.
Among the renowned Indian personalities who have received invitations are SS Rajamouli and his wife Rajamouli, and choreographer Prem Rakshit. “RRR” made history by winning Best Original Song at the Oscars last year. The entire cast and crew received worldwide recognition for their work on the film.
Rajamouli received an invitation from the director’s chapter, and his wife Rama Rajamouli got as a costume designer. Prem Rakshit was recognised for his work as choreographer for the song “Naatu Naatu”.
Shabana Azmi, a veteran Bollywood actress, is the other renowned Indian personality who has been invited to join the Oscars Academy. Ravi Varman, a popular cinematographer, also received the invitation.
Costume designer Sheetal Sharma (Gangubai) and Bollywood producer Ritesh Sidhwani got the invitations as well.
