Rumors: Karthi and Lokesh Kanagaraj fall out!

It was Karthi who gave director Lokesh Kanagaraj his much-needed big break with their collaborative project “Kaithi” in 2019. Although Karthi had agreed to do “Kaithi 2” immediately, Lokesh Kanagaraj wanted more time and went on to direct other films such as Master, Vikram, Leo, and Coolie.

Karthi patiently waited for Lokesh Kanagaraj all these years. Eventually, while working on Rajinikanth’s “Coolie,” Lokesh confirmed that his next film would indeed be “Kaithi 2.” The sequel was officially announced in March 2025 by Dream Warrior Pictures in association with KVN Productions, with plans to begin shooting in 2026.

But now, rumors suggest that Karthi and Lokesh Kanagaraj have parted ways due to creative differences and may not team up for Kaithi 2.

However, neither the production houses nor the key stakeholders have confirmed this. Industry insiders emphasize that earlier delays were attributed to scheduling conflicts, as both Lokesh and Karthi have busy lineups of films.
