It is now certain that “Lakshmi’s NTR” will not be released in Andhra Pradesh on May 1st. Even as Ram Gopal Varma is making all hungama about the release of “Lakshmi’s NTR” in Andhra Pradesh, the election commission of India has stated that the film will not be permitted to screen in the theaters till model code of conduct (MCC) is in place.
MCC remains in force till the end of the electoral process on May 27. So, it will not release tomorrow (May 1st) in Andhra Pradesh.
Election Commission of India has put a stay on the release of all political biopics in India including PM Modi biopic till the end of election results. These guidelines will be applicable for “Lakshmi’s NTR” as well, Andhra Pradesh’s Election commissioner reiterated. In other words, “Lakshmi’s NTR” will not be released in AP till May 27.
“Lakshmi’s NTR” had its screenings in Telangana and rest of the world last month itself. It took good openings in the first weekend but tanked later.
