Tamannaah Bhatia plays Jayashree in V. Shantaram biopic

Tamannaah Bhatia has unveiled her captivating first-look poster as the legendary actress Jayashree in the upcoming biographical drama “V. Shantaram: The Rebel of Indian Cinema”. The film traces the extraordinary life of pioneering filmmaker V. Shantaram, with Siddhant Chaturvedi stepping into the titular role.

In the released poster, Tamannaah embodies vintage grace, draped in a beautiful pink Nauvari saree, a traditional Maharashtrian style that perfectly captures the charm of Indian cinema’s golden era. Her poised elegance and subtle intensity instantly transport viewers back in time.

The poster carries the caption: “Jayashree — The star of an era. The strength behind a legacy. A chapter returning to history.”

Jayashree, whom Tamannaah portrays, was a celebrated actress known for classics such as “Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani” (1946) and “Shakuntala” (1943). She was also V. Shantaram’s second wife and played a key role in his personal life and creative journey.

Written and directed by Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande, the film chronicles Shantaram’s iconic path from the silent film era to becoming one of India’s most revolutionary filmmakers and social reformers. Known for masterpieces like “Do Aankhen Barah Haath” and “Navrang”, he earned the title “rebel” of Indian cinema for his bold themes and technical innovations.
